...in memory of Princess Gwenllian:

In the fastness of Snowdonia stand three mountains with a tale to tell.  Standing proud and tall, defying all that the elements fling against their rocky slopes, they are symbolic of those whose names they bear and whose lives, and struggles for nationhood, were as harsh as the elements and as abiding as the mountains themselves.

These Carneddi mountains bear the names of Llywelyn, Prince of Wales and Dafydd his brother, the last defenders of independent Wales.  Standing close to Carnedd Llywelyn is his wife Yr Elen, that is, Eleanor, daughter of Simon de Montfort.  But whosoever named these mountains in memory of this tragic family, could not have known of the fate of Llywelyn and Eleanor's baby daughter Gwenllian, who disappeared from history when abducted by the English King Edward I.  In the land of her birth, there is no mountain named in her memory.

Is it not time to reunite Gwenllian with her parents and uncle in their rocky fastness?  Let the child who disappeared be remembered along with her father and mother.

Close to Yr Elen there stands a peak with the somewhat bland name of Carnedd Uchaf (Highest Cairn).  If this were to be renamed Carnedd Gwenllian then she would be symbolically restored to her homeland and finally stand alongside her family.
