1991
- Byron Rogers wrote an article about Gwenllian in the Guardian.
1993 - Captain Richard Turner, having read the article, set up a memorial to Gwenllian at Sempringham. 1996 - The Society was founded to look after the memorial and to keep alive Gwenllian's memory. 1998 - The Society's first AGM was held at Garth Celyn near Bangor, Gwenllian's birthplace. 1999 - In a telephone poll the Daily Mirror asked "Should the day of Gwenllian's death become a national holiday?" 96% answered "Yes". 2001 - A new, larger memorial was set up. |
